"God's purpose for the artist is to inspire, to give us visions of ourselves that we might not see, to make us better than we would have been. The world is better for the arts and righteous artists in it. In the quest to achieve greatness in artistic pursuits--whether in painting, music, dance, drama, film, sculpture, or the written word--we should always seek first to achieve God's purposes." -Elder M. Russell Ballard

A Day At The Zoo

Today Kirsten's kindergarten class got to take a fieldtrip to Hogle Zoo.

We rode the school bus on up to the zoo. (This was Kirsten's first time riding in an actual school bus, so imagine her excitement!)

The bus driver was one of my old residents from Compass Court. (Thank goodness I was such a great manager to her! ;) )

Mrs. Fonseca divided all of the kindergarten kids into smaller, more manageable groups.

We ended up with a group of 10, plus another mom to help out.

We then assigned each child a partner to link arms with. (Kirsten "got stuck" with the only boy, and she was tugging him along!)

We saw the monkeys, gorilla, giraffes, elephants, lynx, camels, snakes, skunks, lizards, penguins, and zebras. (Why are penguins so so cute?!)

We had a great little group of kids that listened really well and stayed together in the group and with their assigned partner.

It was a really great day! If you ever get the chance to chaperone your kids' fieldtrips, take the offer!
