"God's purpose for the artist is to inspire, to give us visions of ourselves that we might not see, to make us better than we would have been. The world is better for the arts and righteous artists in it. In the quest to achieve greatness in artistic pursuits--whether in painting, music, dance, drama, film, sculpture, or the written word--we should always seek first to achieve God's purposes." -Elder M. Russell Ballard

Merry Christmas!!!

It came without ribbons,
It came without tags,
It came without packages, boxes or bags.
Christmas can't be bought from a store...
Maybe Christmas means a little bit more.

-Dr. Seuss
Tonight we surprised the girls with a trip on the 'train', dinner at Olive Garden, and then a horse-drawn carriage ride around downtown Salt Lake. They loved it, and we loved seeing how happy it made them! We anticipated a smooth ride on trax, however a car hit the train on the ride down, and on the ride home the train hit some pedestrians. (We think, there were just a lot of coats all over the ground.)
The carriage ride was nice and relaxing, we stayed nice and warm under the blankets.
There were so many people dressed up as Santa Claus tonight, I guess there was a party of sorts going on at one of the bars. It was great seeing all of the Christmas cheer, the girls loved seeing all of those Santa's b/c they would wave and say "HO! HO! HO! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!" It was awesome! Below are a few pictures from our fabulous evening out. Enjoy!

Bethanie & Kirsten on the train heading downtown.

The Big Red Tree.

Baby Jesus, Mary, and Joseph in the reflecting pool in front of the temple.
Posing under the GIANT pine tree.
Again.

Getting ready for the carriage ride.
Graysen got nice and comfy on the carriage ride.

Not such a great picture (of me) but we could not remember the last time we'd taken one together...

The girls were pretending they were princess's and were waving to all of the people.

After the ride was over our driver let us grab a quick picture.

Here the girls are petting Cleatus and telling him thanks for a smooth ride. (He's GIANT!)

On the train ride home, he was so sleepy.

What a wise man, that Dr. Suess! I'm glad you were able to spend a fun night out with the family! Guaranteed the kids will remember this trip they had before Christmas more than what they get as gifts. Way cute family picture.
